Magnesium Oxide Boards
Magnesium Oxide boards are certified fire resistant, water resistant, high-impact interior and exterior construction panel. MgO panel’s load capacity meets the requirements of both residential and commercial structures.
With its mold resistance, fire resistance and high-impact properties, MgO boards could be used in high value areas i.e. safe rooms and equipment rooms or when health and safety concerns exist.
MgO board is light tan to cream in color. Standard production material is very smooth on one side and sand textured on the other.
MgO board accepts any type of paint, wallpaper and tiling. Standard edges are square or tapered, special edges and sizes are available though. It may be cut, trimmed or shaped using ordinary power or hand tools.
Applications include single family homes, apartment complexes, commercial high rise buildings, theaters, museums, schools, hospitals, retail, hotels, restaurants, nightclubs, airports, subway stations, tunnels, fire separations, etc.
Standard panel size – 4′ × 8′ (1.2 × 2.4 m)
Thickness – ½”, 5/8” and 3/4″ (19.1 mm)
Material Composition and properties
MgO board is manufactured from a combination of magnesium oxide, magnesium Chloride, and fibreglass mesh.
Standard production material is very smooth on one side and sand textured on the other.
It may be cut, trimmed or shaped using ordinary power or hand tools. Square or shiplap joints are available.
It is approved for 1-, 1 1/2-, 2-, 3- and 4-hour fire resistant wall systems, providing an unprecedented degree of safety and security.
Offering superior fire protection, MgO board requires only a single layer, which expedites job completion, saving time and money.
MgO board’s flamespread and smoke propagation ratings of 0 per ASTM E84. STC ratings of 53 on a 2-hour UL assembly and 54 on a 3-hour UL assembly are available.
